Problem Initial View and others

Hi all,

recently we updated to DS 1.4 and our BW to 7.4 SP09.

Now we are facing some problems that did not arise before these updates but until now I am not able to exactly determine the reason and therefore I have no idea how to solve these.

Maybe one of you have any idea.

My first problem is the following:

In my application I have serveral datasources. For them you are normally able to select the displayed measures and keyfigures within the "initial view" tab.

Inside this tab it seems to work as normal but when closing it, the view in my application does not change.

It is like DS is not able to save the selected view but I don't understand why.

WDesign Studio I get this error message:

Could not bind a reference of component com.sap.ip.bi.base.application.DeclaredServiceActivator. The reference is: Reference[name = IActivatorBase, interface = com.sap.ip.bi.base.bundle.IActivatorBase, policy = dynamic, cardinality = 0..n, target = null, bind = addRICActivator, unbind = removeRICActivator]

I just looked in the path: C:\Program Files\SAP BusinessObjects\Design Studio\plugins

and there is no such "com.sap.ip.bi.base.application.DeclaredServiceActivator" - should there be one and this is the problem?

------------------------------------------------------------

---UPDATE----

I just created a totally new dashboard with only one new Datasource.

Now DesignStudio gives me no error message at all but I still cannot change the shown keyfigures in the initial view tab.

After closing the initial view selection, Design Studio will always show ALL keyfigures from the query in the crosstab.

When using this data source with a chart component, I am able to select the shown keyfigures in the chart poperties.

------------------------------------------------------------

In other dashboards I had a conversion routine in some queries and now DS is no longer able to load these.

Then I get following messages:

eclipse.buildId=@qualifier@

java.version=1.7.0_55

java.vendor=SAP AG

BootLoader constants: OS=win32, ARCH=x86_64, WS=win32, NL=de_DE

Framework arguments:  BusinessObjects Design Studio

Command-line arguments:  -os win32 -ws win32 -arch x86_64 BusinessObjects Design Studio

Big Deal: embed Design Studio application into other webpage

Hello Community,

the goal is to embed Design Studio report(deployed on HANA)

into a native HANA application built with SAPUI5 (or any other webpage).

I have tried using simple iFrame and DS application link,

but it shows blank white screen.

Do you have an idea?

Design Studio 1.2 SDK - including SAPUI5 libraries

$

Hi,

There will be times when it would be beneficial to include SAPUI5 controls within an SDK component, either on the canvas or the additional properties sheet.  In this context, I'd appreciate a clarification and any guidance regarding how to reference SAPUI5 libraries within the Design Studio SDK.  More specifically, I'd like a verification of the following points:

1)  As I understand it, SAPUI5 is already part of the Design Studio framework.  If this is the case, is it correct to assume that we do not need to explicitly load the SAPUI5 libraries by referencing them in the contribution.xml file with a <jsInclude> tag?

2) If the SAPUI5 libraries are indeed automatically loaded by the Design Studio framework, which of the libraries are included in Design Studio 1.2 and which version eg. 1.14.0, 1.16.0?  Specifically, is the sap.m mobile library loaded or would I have to explicitly load this if it is needed?

Thanks,

Mustafa.

Demo with sample excel data using Design Studio

Hi Experts,

I have started working in Design Studio recently. I have gone through the tutorials, some articles and blogs in scn. What I understood is the data should always come from a datasource connected to BEx (Or Universe in BO 4.1).

I am using BOE 4.0 SP6. Is there any way to use excel as datasource ? I used to use xcelsius for any demo with sample excel data. Similarly can I build a demo using Design Studio using data in a excel file or any local file ? I do not want to connect to BO or BW server while giving the demo.

Though I do not expect a positive answer here, still, any idea is welcome.

Thanks and Regards,

Arijit

Data label not showing

Hi Experts,

I am coming across any issue with line graph in Design Studio 1.3.  I have two different set of measures that I am displaying but I can only see the data point from one measure and not the other.  See the below screenshot.

Is this a bug that needs to be reported to SAP or I am the only one seeing this?

Hi,

I'm trying to round a large number using Math.round function within my script.

Unable to do so, I follow up some post on design studio sdk, where this function has been used.

Not sure if this is not supported by DS1.4, please advise, thanks

Error: Couldn't resolve reference to member Math.round

Please advise if there is a work around to this?

All i can think at this point is formatting the number in bex, thanks

Appreciate your response!!

Hi Gurus,

In our Dashboard we are having 6 charts all are using same data source, but all the 6 charts are having different dimension so i have created separate connection and in the initial view i have kept dimension for the chart so iam having 1 bex query 6 connection and 6 charts in design studio . All the 6 charts in same view of the dashboard and iam using  Load data source script function to load the data source via script.

Is it possible to use 1 connection for the 6 charts by using CSS i want to change the dimension. so that performance of the dashboard can be increased.

Design Studio 1.4 SDK - What is the correct approach for binding events to script methods for UI5-based components?

$

Design Studio 1.4 has introduced the concept of binding events to script methods, which allows an SDK component to access the BIAL API.  This is documented towards the end of the article What's Coming in Design Studio 1.4 SDK. In an attempt to apply this new feature to an SDK component based on a UI5 control I'm not getting the desired result so would appreciate any suggestions to resolve the issue.

As a way to test the approach, I have simply modified the UI5 Application Header component provided with the SDK Samples so that the logo title of the component is automatically set to the Design Studio application name as determined by a call to the APPLICATION.getInfo().name API method.  However, for some reason, the logo title isn't populated as shown below:

ApplicationHeader.png

The intended result is that the application name obtained from APPLICATION.getInfo().name should appear next to the SAP logo.

I have added two properties to the contribution.xml file, as shown below:

<property  id="onSetAppName"  title="Set Application Name"  type="ScriptText"    visible="false"/>  <property  id="appName"  title="Application Name"  type="String"    visible="false"/><initialization>  <defaultValue property="LEFT_MARGIN">0</defaultValue>  <defaultValue property="RIGHT_MARGIN">0</defaultValue>  <defaultValue property="WIDTH">auto</defaultValue>  <defaultValue property="HEIGHT">38</defaultValue>  <defaultValue property="displayWelcome">true</defaultValue>  <defaultValue property="onSetAppName">this.setAppInfoName();</defaultValue><initialization>

The onSetAppName event is for invoking the script method this.setAppInfoName() as defined in the default value.  The property appName is intended to store the application name to be populated in the Application Header.

I have defined a script method in the contribution.ztl file as follows:

/* Sets the value of the invisible property appName to the application name */  @Visibility(private)  void setAppInfoName() {*    this.appName = APPLICATION.getInfo().name;  *}

Then I have updated the component.js file as follows:

sap.ui.commons.ApplicationHeader.extend("com.sap.sample.ui5.ApplicationHeader", {  metadata : {     properties : {      "appName" : { type : "string", defaultValue : "App Name" }    }  },  getAppName : function() {  return this.getProperty("appName");  },  setAppName : function(v) {  this.setProperty("appName", v);  return this;  },  initDesignStudio: function() {  // Raise the onSetAppName event to execute the script for getting the application name  this.fireDesignStudioEvent("onSetAppName");  // Set the logo text to the appName property filled by the onSetAppName event script  this.setLogoText(this.getAppName());  this.attachLogoff(function() {  this.fireDesignStudioEvent("onLogoff");  });  },  renderer: {}
});

In the initDesignStudio function I raise the event onSetAppName which should invoke the setAppInfoName() method in the contribution.ztl file, in turn setting the appName property to the application name.  The LogoText property of the Application Header is then set to the value of the AppName property.

So, it all seems to look good in theory but in practice the LogoText of the Application Header component isn't updated with the application name.  I'd appreciate any ideas about what I may have missed.

Thanks,

Mustafa.

How to add Custom CSS file?

Hi,

Currently i am working on Design Studio 1.1 SP1 in local mode (i.e. I am not connecting to an SAP BI 4.0 Platform). I want to add a custom CSS file to my application. Below are the steps which i have followed but it does not seem to work:

1. Created .CSS file named ABC.CSS. the content of this file is:

     .myPanel{

     background:indigo;

     }

2. I, then, placed it in the below folder.

      C:\Users\<my_windows_user_name>\Analysis-workspace\com.sap.ip.bi.zen\repository\DEMO_2

     DEMO_2 is the name of my application.

3. In design studio, I clicked on DEMO_2 in the outline and went to its property box where i wrote ABC.CSS in the Custom CSS option. I had to write this as i did not get any drop down menu.

4. I selected a Text Box in my application and  wrote myPanel in the CSS Class option in its property.

5. I executed the application locally.

But i am unable to see the background color in indigo for this text box. The color does not change. If i simply write background:indigo; in the CSS Style option of this text box then the color changes.

Can you please point out the missing step here? or where i am going wrong?

Dynamic measure in charts using same data source

Hi Experts,

I am trying to use single data source to show chart for selective measures. I have tried the steps here: Design Studio 1.2: Select key figures to display on charts. Here we can create multiple charts with selective measures using single data source.

But, is it possible to re-use the same chart component ? I mean, selecting a measure name from a drop down, I want to change the measure in the same chart component - using one chart component and one data source. Is it possible using some script ?

I tried but could not find an option for a chart component to change the dimension/measure. I do not want to have one chart for each measure and show/hide based on the selection. I want a single chart and want to change the objects dynamically using some script.

Mandatory Bex variables Design Studio 1.2

Hi,

I'm a bit confused. According to this thread it is not possible to have mandatory Bex variables in DS.

It seems to work for my qry though, but the design is not what I would expect from it and is confusing for the end user. I was wondering how I can set the prompt as a popup like specified in this tutorial and also change the look and feel of it in order to make it more understandable for the end user.

Cheers

Eddy

Hi, after installing SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio 1.0 client I get the following error message when starting the application:

Schermafbeelding 2012-11-18 om 09.28.53.png

The log file is posted below. What could be the problem here?

I'm using a clean Windows 8 installation in a Parallels VM on my Mac.

Thanks,

Arijit

Top 10 Bar Chart with Scroll bar

Hello all and thanks in advance.

I'm struggling to find a way to implement a Ranking view of a measure and a dimension. My requeriment is to show the top 10 in a Bar Chart but I have two problems:

1. How to filter the results to the top 10? I've trying a lot of different things like sorting the Datasource and save the top 10 in an array for later use this array to filter the datasource with the setFilter script function, but I cannot get the results I want. I'm working with a predefined view with HANA so it is not possible to alter the view, the Top has to be done in Design Studio.

2. If I get the top 10 results, how can I activate the scrollbar feature in the bar chart? I have height to only show 5 results but I would like the posibility to show the top 10 results. I have tried with the SDK components available here in the community but nothing fits exactly my requeriment.

I would like to obtain something like:

It is possible?

Thanks

Cheers

Eddy
